The good news about Week 1 of the NFL season: Everyone’s undefeated. The bad news: Everyone’s also winless. That’s the same feeling for us game pickers. This is the only time of year when we can sit back, enjoy a cold adult beverage and revel in being unblemished. It’s all downhill from here. Unlike the teams that will see their Super Bowl dreams dashed in about a month, however, we get to contend all season, all the way to Super Bowl XLIX....
One old favorite might be poised to make a move back up the rankings, as Julius Thomas (12) stands to see more targets this week if Allen Hurns (foot) is out. Injuries and matchups really dictate the TE rankings after the top four or so, and with Antonio Gates (knee) still not 100 percent, things are wide open after the Gronk-Olsen-Eifert-Barnidge group most weeks. Let’s look at the highlights from our Week 10 TE rankings and try to help you with your tough start/sit decisions at this always unpredictable position....
Of course, there are still bye weeks that wipe out some of the top producers, and the receiver position is particularly affected. Adam Thielen, DeAndre Hopkins, Stefon Diggs, Emmanuel Sanders, and Demaryius Thomas are all out this week, so that will knock out a little depth. Additionally, the injury to A.J. Green knocks out some depth among the top-tier guys. Still, there is more than enough other options at the position to make up for the depth there....
The same is true with Baker Mayfield (vs. Steelers) versus Ryan Finley (@ Raiders). Mayfield led a solid Browns’ outing against the Bills, winning a game many expected Cleveland to lose. Mayfield didn’t make any brutal mistakes, although Freddie Kitchens couldn’t call a play to score on goal-to-go if his life depended on it. Finley had some rough patches in his NFL debut but also displayed the arm talent we knew he had, and he gets to face Oakland, another terrible pass defense, in Week 11....

There are a number of running backs who are in excellent spots this week and in my opinion, virtually all of the high-volume backs are underpriced on DraftKings. At this point in the season, the only reason not to start two quarterbacks is because of injuries at the position. If you had Daniel Jones as your No. 2 QB and don’t have a replacement, rolling with an RB or WR is fine. They won’t have as high of a floor as another passer, but if you can’t get another QB, perhaps a certain flex could do well enough to keep your lineup afloat....
First, the surprises. Drew Brees and Philip Rivers are not listed among the starters (i.e. top 12), but two of fantasy’s most up-and-down (i.e. frustrating) players are. Ryan Tannehill and Matt Ryan both get nods as starters this week. Disagree? Sorry, but it’s all about the matchups. Let’s take a look at more highlights from our Week 13 QB rankings to identify the starts, sits, sleepers and busts for your seasonal or daily fantasy football lineups....
Of course, just because a receiver who’s normally in the top 10 slides down the rankings (see Thomas, Demaryius), doesn’t mean he’s suddenly a tough start/sit decision. He’s still a starter, but expectations should be managed. Strategy-wise, that might surrounding that player with more high-floor receivers to minimize the damage if he has a mediocre game. Ultimately, you just need points, and our rankings should hopefully help you find the players most likely to provide those....

But they shouldn’t be. That’s not to say you won’t get some calls wrong, but overreacting to Week 1 is a common mistake. The Rams aren’t that good, the Bengals aren’t that bad, and the Colts…well, the Colts might actually be that bad, but a likely QB change to Jacoby Brissett certainly can’t hurt. Similarly, don’t overreact to what we saw from defenses in Week 1. While we always do our best to factor in matchups, there’s still much we don’t know....
