The game of Week 15 takes place three days earlier, on Thursday night in Kansas City. If we’re lucky, we’ll need that long to recover from the potential drama. The Chargers-Chiefs game at Arrowhead will be worth all the hype, and it will mean the world to the winner. Yes, those other two teams are always lurking and almost certainly will in the playoffs, but telling either of them that they have to go through either Kansas City or … well, OK, Carson, but still … carries a lot of weight....

Of course, yards and TDs are still worth the most, so stud backs with favorable matchups remain at the top of the rankings, especially the ones who stay on the field on third downs. Finding the balance between a “pass-catching back” like Tarik Cohen and a power-back who will get maybe double the overall touches like Jordan Howard is always a trick in PPR leagues. We believe both are borderline RB1s in a favorable matchup against the Lions this week, but we expect Cohen to total more than the one reception he’s had in each of the past two weeks....

Among that group of worrisome receivers are all the Rams (@ Buccaneers), all the Buccaneers (vs. Rams), all Texans (vs. Patriots), all Bengals (@ Washington), and all Lions (@ Panthers). That’s as many as 11 starters facing tough matchups. That doesn’t mean you’re going to bench Cooper Kupp, Chris Godwin, Will Fuller, or Tyler Boyd, as they are good enough to break a big play against anyone, but you’re at least thinking twice about them giving some of their disappointing recent performances....

Last week, we were a perfect three for three defenses (Cardinals, Panthers, Vikings) and tight ends (Tyler Kroft, O.J. Howard, Ricky Seals-Jones) and did well on the other positions thanks to shoddy performances from LeGarrette Blount, Tevin Coleman, Matthew Stafford, and Stefon Diggs. The top of the WR rankings for this week sees a lot of players with high-quality matchups. Antonio Brown (@ Raiders), Davante Adams (vs. Falcons), Keenan Allen (vs. Bengals), and Michael Thomas (@ Buccaneers) all have realistic cases for being the No. 1 receiver, so anyone who owns these guys should be even happier than usual. Those great matchups can be exploited further down the line, as well, as their teammates all can qualify as WR2s (or in the case of JuJu Smith-Schuster, as a WR1)....

There have been a fair amount of disappointments this year in PPR, like Jarvis Landry, but the fact of the matter is that guys who get targets are still valuable. While Landry and Larry Fitzgerald haven’t been performing at the level that many expected, they still have to be included in the starting lineup for most fantasy teams, especially with Landry in a good matchup with the Panthers and Fitzgerald in a fairly nice matchup with the Lions....

Let’s start with the bad news: Patrick Mahomes (@ Saints), Deshuan Watson (@ Colts), Russell Wilson (@ Washington), Josh Allen (@ Broncos), and Kyler Murray (vs. Eagles) have statistically difficult matchups. However, all have proven they can put up big numbers against any opponents, so it’s unlikely you’ll bench any even in a must-win week. Murray is on the start ’em, sit ’em bubble given some of his recent struggles, but we know how high his ceiling still is....
