As always, even perennial stars can bust in favorable matchups, but it’s tough to call superstars “busts” unless they’ve really been trending downward or have a particularly brutal matchup. We mostly stick to naming guys on the start-or-sit bubble – not guys who are simply going to have a good-but-not-great week and not guys who are on over 90 percent of waiver wires. Sometimes you don’t have the depth to reasonably bench these guys (or you might just totally disagree with our assessments), but you’ll at least know who is at risk this week....

Those receivers include Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods (@ Buccaneers), Chris Godwin, Antonio Brown, and Mike Evans (vs. Rams), Will Fuller (vs. Patriots), Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins (@ Washington), and Kenny Golladay (@ Panthers). Thye all remain in the WR2/3 tier in our rankings, but all are in tough spots. Basically, the only reason to consider starting a non-QB in a superflex spot at this point is if you have injuries at the position. Joe Burrow (knee), Drew Brees (ribs), Matthew Stafford (thumb), and Teddy Bridgewater (knee) are among the banged-up quarterbacks across the league, and at least Brees and Burrow will be out this week. If you’re holding onto one of these players and simply don’t have a backup option at QB, rolling with a high-upside RB or WR is fine....

I typically take a cash game approach to finding value plays, and many times you don’t need to overthink rostering value plays in tournaments, as long as you look to diversify your lineup in other areas. Our hot streak in picking sleepers continued last week, as many of our picks were smash hits. At running back, Josh Adams and Gus Edwards both scored in the double digits and emerged as true RB2s. At QB, Baker Mayfield led the charge with a massive game against the Bengals while Lamar Jackson and Jameis Winston also put up respectable numbers. We also predicted the Antonio Callaway “breakout” game (he had a TD) and saw Jordan Reed, Cameron Brate, and the Cowboys D/ST succeed, as well....

Of course, that implies you would actually change your kicker at this point in the season, which most of you probably won’t. Honestly, we don’t blame you. Just because a matchup is unfavorable on paper doesn’t really mean that much at this position. Sure, we still factor it into our rankings because we have to use some objective criteria for evaluating 32 kickers, but when it comes to your individual decision, we wouldn’t blame you for ignoring certain stats and just going with the guy who’s been decent for you most of the year....
