Basically, the only reason to consider starting a non-QB in a superflex spot at this point is if you have injuries at the position. Joe Burrow (knee), Drew Brees (ribs), Matthew Stafford (thumb), and Teddy Bridgewater (knee) are among the banged-up quarterbacks across the league, and at least Brees and Burrow will be out this week. If you’re holding onto one of these players and simply don’t have a backup option at QB, rolling with a high-upside RB or WR is fine. They just don’t have the same high floor as the other options on this list.
WEEK 12 STANDARD RANKINGS:Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker
If you’re not dealing with QB injuries, there is rarely ever an excuse not to start a second QB. Sure, starting injury fill-ins like Brandon Allen, Mike Glennon, and Nick Mullens isn’t ideal, but they do have higher floors than some of the big-name non-QBs that could draw lineup consideration further down the rankings. Notably, guys like Ronald Jones, Nelson Agholor, and JuJu Smith-Schuster come in below them, as their floors are either too low (Agholor and Smith-Schuster) or their ceilings just aren’t high enough (Jones) to justify taking a risk on them over a passer.
WEEK 12 FANTASY: Sleepers | Busts | Start ’em, sit ’em
Even if it takes garbage time, Allen, Glennon, Mullens, and Sam Darnold will all have a chance to work their way into the top 50. They simply have more opportunities to produce than backs and receivers since they have the ball in their hands every play. No matter how bad their matchup looks or how unappealing they might be, they all deserve starting consideration in superflex leagues.
