Ultimately, matchups and past performances play the biggest roles in determining who is ranked where, but as we’ve been saying the past few weeks, location matters, too. Several of our top-12 kickers are playing indoors (Joey Slye, Daniel Carlson, Younghoe Koo, Matt Prater), while two others are playing in the thin air of Denver (Wil Lutz, Brandon McManus). Of course, the latter two could easily be off-limits if there’s a storm in Denver next Sunday, but if the weather is clear, they have the added potential of some long-range field goals. (Update: We significantly lowered McManus with news that practice-squad WR Kendall Hinton will start at QB for the Broncos this week.)

Not all indoor kickers are ranked highly, but if a deluge of winter storms spreads across the U.S. next week, you can always count on some other guys in domes, like Rodrigo Blankenship, Ka’imi Fairbairn, Dan Bailey, and Stephen Gostkowski.

Tyler Bass is the main kicker to look for who’s likely available after having a bye, but Graham Gano (if off the COVID list) is also in play this week. There are still two byes still to come in Week 13 (Panthers, Buccaneers), so if you have either Joey Slye or Ryan Succop, you might want to plan ahead and see if there are any kickers available you would want for the rest of the season. As much as we like Slye this week and beyond, grabbing another kicker now could pay off down the road if you already know you’re going to make the fantasy playoffs.
