Speaking of Week 17, we’re at that point in the season, and that means plenty of star-caliber players may find themselves sitting as they prepare for either the postseason or next season. Notably, the Saints and the Cowboys seem to be in prime position to rest starters, as they are locked into the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds in the NFC, respectively. While we have their top guys ranked for now, that is something that definitely could change throughout the week. (UPDATE: With the Saints set to sit Drew Brees, we’re removing Michael Thomas from the rankings, as he seems unlikely to play. Amari Cooper gets a downgrade too, as the Cowboys will probably only have their starters play a couple series at the most).
Week 17 Rankings: Quarterback | Running Back | Tight End | Defense | Kicker
The Steelers are the team whose receivers should be in full action this week. With the team fighting for a playoff berth and getting a dream matchup with the Bengals, both Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster would qualify as top-five plays (though Brown is questionable with a knee injury). The duo have performed at a high enough level throughout the season, even though they occasionally cannibalize their respective production, but there should be plenty to go around in a do-or-die Week 17 game. If you have either on your squad, you should have a massive upper hand in championship games that take place this week.
There are some great matchups to exploit on this slate, as well. Aside from the Steelers, the Chiefs (vs. Raiders), Falcons (@ Buccaneers), Rams (vs. 49ers), and Buccaneers (@ Falcons) all have favorable outlooks this week. If you find yourself needing to replace a starter who is resting, targeting some options from those teams might be a smart move, as they could end up outperforming expectations.
Note: Check back for player movement updates and analysis throughout the week.
